The American College of Sports Medicine recommends that healthy adults achieve:

AEROOBIC
- 150 mins/week of moderate intensity exercise
- 60-75 mins of vigorous intensity exercise
- Equivalent combination of both - Running & Cycling

RESISTANCE
- Muscle strengthening exercises ≥2 days/ week for each muscle group
- Free weights, Weight machines, Resistance bands

Flexibility
- 10-15 mins 2 days/week
- Stretching, Tai Chi, Yoga/Pilates

Balance/Agility
- On a regular basis
- One leg stand still Ball


Sound like a lot? That’s because it is! Studies in America showed that just 23% of the adult population were meeting these guidelines. Does this mean we throw out these guidelines? No, they are a great target to aim for! Our physiotherapists are experts in prescribing an exercise programme to suit your needs. If you can’t run, we’ll walk. Whether it be due to pain, confidence, balance problems etc. our physiotherapists have the skills to identify your level and provide you with an exercise plan to get you on the right track.
